Pistol Cleaning - DIY (July 08, 2026)

So you want to clean your pistol? But your a little unsure? No problem.

Based on feedback from members, we will be hosting a Clean Your Pistol event immediately after the July membership meeting.

Members will be available to help guide you through the cleaning process and provide their perspective/hints.

Please email Mark at bockmonster@gmail.com to let him know the pistol you will be bringing.

The Pistol Instructor Training Program (July 11, 2026)

The Pistol instructor Training Program has one prerequisite and 2 course components:

1) Prerequisite - the “NRA Basic Pistol” course: This is the same course you will be certified to teach to other, legal handgun owners once you are instructor credentials are earned. The NRA requires you to have completed the course as a student before becoming certified to teach it.

If you have successfully completed this course in the past it counts – you do not need to take it again.
If you have not yet completed this course, you can take most of this course online at the NRA Training Site. The online course is $60 and designed to be used in conjunction with in-person live fire/training afterward. The in-person live fire section will be completed under Paul Zuckerman’s supervision first thing on Saturday, July 11th before the B.I.T. class begins. If you need to, Click here to register for the Online Basic Pistol Shooting Course today!
So if you need to, please register and complete the online portion of this class BEFORE Saturday, July 11^th. The final, live fire certification would be held on the morning of, and in advance of, the Saturday BIT class.

2) Saturday, July 11^th - Basic Instructor Training (BIT): This is a 6-hour class that teaches those new to instructing how to teach an NRA course. If you already have taken this course within 24 months of the class date you may be exempt from needing to take it again.

3) Sunday, July 12th - NRA Pistol Instructor Course: This is the class you need to become certified as an NRA pistol instructor.

As previously mentioned, except for the live fire training portion, participants must have completed the remote learning “Basic Pistol” class before July 11^th

If you have already completed the Basic Pistol class, you are all set. Bring your certificate as proof of completion or contact Paul Zuckerman if you can’t find it.
If you have have completed Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the 2 years prior to July 11^th please contact Paul Zuckerman after registering.

NEW YORK STATE 18 HOUR PISTOL PERMIT CLASS (August 01, 2026)

The required course to obtain your New York State Pistol Permit.

This class, presented in cooperation with ArmsWise, LLC, a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder, is conducted over two days. Each day runs from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Register for the NYS required course with a professional, experienced team.

As per NY law concealed carry firearm safety training must include 16 hours of in-person live classroom instruction and 2 hours of live fire. The course is conducted over two days. Each day runs from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

Firearms safety and safe handling practices
Firearm and ammunition function and operation
Cleaning and maintenance
Range safety
Holster and accessory considerations
Concealed carry considerations
Safe storage and transportation requirements
State and federal gun laws
